They Made a Difference with Their ‘Identity’
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Interior Department of Architecture and Environmental Design students met at the exhibition design workshop called ‘Identity’. IUE students prepared a presentation concept that reflects their personal identity interpretations. In the event, which was curated by stage and exhibition designer Valentine Koppenhöfer and assisted by Research Assistant Hande Yıldız Çekindir, students who reflected the best examples of teamwork created their exhibitions intertwined with their unique identity narratives. Students studying in second, third and fourth grades focused on developing spatial communication strategies for various aspects of identity, including history, gender, language, aesthetics, ecology and society.
RECYCLED MATERIALS
Additionally, in line with sustainability principles, students were asked to use only recycled materials sourced from campus. One of the most important feature of the workshop was the unusual presentation of the created objects in an open-air exhibition.
The workshop aimed to provide interior architecture students with a comprehensive understanding of exhibition design processes and to foster valuable group experiences that prepare them for their future professional endeavors.
