Faculty of Fine Arts and Design
LAK LAK 2
Thursday May 9th saw the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design come together for the most recent installment of Lak Lak, a presentation event organized by the Visual Communication Department and designed to give students and lecturers alike a platform to share their stories.
Intended to be held in one of the D-block’s outdoor amphitheaters, a sudden storm forced the event to be shifted indoors. Despite the rain, over 100 people attended and were treated to some very entertaining presentations: Zeynep Arda talking about her mistakes; Yiğitcan Kebapcılar looking for volunteers for a workshop; Osman Demirbaş talking about Nigeria; Victor Javier Irizarry talking about sketching his way through experiencing Izmir; Nigel Ashley talking about making money quickly; Halil Doğan talking about expectation and reality in his internship; Kıvanç Kılınç talking about the monster that is architectural history; and Hasan Işıklı talking about why he is a common face in the Basic Design Studio but an known one. Overall an inspiring evening was had by all.
For more Lak Lak, there is quite a wait for the next installment, as it is penned to take place during the next academic semester. Based on the success of the second installment, it should be worth the wait.
