Design Talks Fall '21 starts with Prof. Kjetil Fallan
In the 2021/2022 Academic year, a series of webinars about particular topics in the context of design discipline are planned under the title of 'Design Talks' hosted by the Department of Industrial Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design; Izmir University of Economics. Design Talks series have its launching with Prof. Kjetil Fallan's talk titled "Lost and Found: Translational Thinking in the History of Scandinavian Design". Moderated and organized by Assistant Professor Esra Bici Nasır, Fallan’s talk will take place online via the Zoom application on 16th of November at 2:30 p.m. (Izmir). Kjetil Fallan is Professor of Design History at the University of Oslo. In recent years his research has revolved around issues of design’s relation to nature, ecology, and the environment, resulting e.g. in the edited volume The Culture of Nature in the History of Design (Routledge 2019), a special issue of the Journal of Design History (no. 2, 2017), and the forthcoming monograph Ecological by Design: A History from Scandinavia (MIT Press, 2022). Previous books include Designing Modern Norway (Routledge 2017), Designing Worlds: National Design Histories in an Age of Globalization (Berghahn Books 2016), Made in Italy: Rethinking a Century of Italian Design (Bloomsbury, 2013), Scandinavian Design: Alternative Histories (Berg 2012), and Design History: Understanding Theory and Method (Berg 2010).
