Izmir University of Economics Students at Good Design 4
Balca Demirbilek, Cansu Türkoğlu, Ramazan Say, and Umut Onat, 2nd year students from Izmir University of Economics Fine Arts and Design Faculty Visual Communication Design (VCD) participated as the youngest participants in 4th Good Design Week that is organized by İzmir Municipality and Izmir Mediterranean Academy. VCD students reproduced their final project submissions they have done for the 1st year Basic Design Studio Course (FFD 102) for the Good Design Exhibition.
Project coordinator Nina Kertselli defined the project as “The aim of this social awareness project was to send our contemporaries a message and draw attention to the dangers of uncontrolled consumption. The materials used for this project were collected from waste materials such as garbage, plastic, fabric, and metals. It strengthens our aimed message by doing so. It is high time to seriously think about what kind of an environment we leave to our younger generations, what kind of an air they will breathe, and whether they will enjoy clean sea, green forests and biological diversity.”
Kertselli also draw attention to that we are accustomed to wiser and older generations transferring their wisdom messages to the younger generations, this time the message comes from young people and the message is touching, burning, individual, and moving. “Young people tell us to stop and think, stop the inconsiderate wasting our resources, stop the excessive production and consumption, and do it for your children.”
Anamorphic is a type of a composition that looks as a complete shape from a specific point of view and looks distorted from other points of view. It creates a fascinating scene by composing irrelevant pieces and materials and deliver the message through this scene.
