IUE Fashion and Textile Design Department 2018-2019 graduation fashion show
Seniors of Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) completed their education journey with a graduation fashion show. Students displayed their collections of ready-to-wear clothing they got inspired by the German Bauhaus School to celebrate the school’s 100th anniversary.
Turkish Beauty Pageant winner Pınar Tartan, models Gizem Barlak and Ebru Öztürk, and IUE student models displayed the 79 unique designs of 21 students on the runway.
Following the exhibition of over 200 graduation projects of senior students from departments of Industrial Design, Visual Communication Design, Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Emre Kızılgüneşler, Vice Chairman of Izmir Chamber of Commerce, Jak Eskinazi, President of Aegean Exporters' Association, Burak Sertbaş, President of Aegean Ready-Made Clothing Exporters Association, IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar, Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, members of IUE Board of Trustees, and guests attended the fashion show that took place at IUE Ceremony Field.
‘Reflection of Bauhaus École to present’
Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, stated that the fashion show took place right after the graduation exhibition of the faculty students. “Prospective designers, who are graduating from five departments within the Faculty, will begin to work as the new professionals of the design industry, which is becoming more and more important in this era. 4th year students prepared for the fashion show in design studio course under the guidance of Lecturer Jörn Fröhlich. Students were inspired by famous works of the Bauhaus School, which was founded in 1919 in Germany, and presented designs that addresses an international contemporary understanding. 68 collections prepared by 10 senior students were showcased on the runway. Also, our junior students, under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Şölen Kipöz, displayed their designs as part of the design studio course at the fashion show choreographed by Akif Örük,” said Bulgun.
