THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN SALT GALATA AND İEÜ ARCHITECTURE CONTINUES

The open forum, in scope of ARCH 401, the 4th year Architectural Design Studio in Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, was held on December, 14th 2018 at Salt GALATA, with the participation of student projects collected under the theme of “Formation(s)”.
Thematic presentations, done by the ARCH 401 coordinators Michael Edward Young, Athanasios Stasinopoulos and Işık Ülkün Neusser, along with examples of student work presented and discussed were intended to create a platform not only for debating these works, but also for problematizing the importance of the fourth-year studio within architectural design education. Presentations were held in two sessions presenting projects from three Units. In the sessions Murat Kumbaracı and Beste Bölük from Unit 1 presented their project of Time Regulation Institute, Furkan Sinan Üğütmen and Nezihe Gökçe Özcan from Unit 2 presented their projects of “Green Neighborhood” and finally Seyit Koyuncu and Alp Arda Gönenmiş presented “Library and Learning Center in the Digital Age”.
In the event which has been organized for the 4th time this year, Michael Edward Young, Athanasios Stasinopoulos and Işık Ülkün Neusser; partime members Rüya İpek Balaban, Ayşe Aydoğan, Metin Şahin, Gaye Bezircioğlu, Nazlı Kök, And Akman, Zeynep Bacinoğlu and course assistant Gözde Damla Turhan hosted academicians and professional architects Nevzat Sayın (NSMH). Aslı Süner (KHAS University), Burcu Biçer Saner (KHAS University, Defne Önen, Efe Gözen, Sabri Gökmen, Tania Feldzer (KAO Design Office), and Tanıl Çokşenim.
