IDEAS AND VISIONS ABOUT UNIVERSAL DESIGN:
DESIGN WITHOUT AWERENESS OF THE “OTHER”, THEN ; THIS ABILITY IS DISABILITY…
We all dream of a life without any obstacles on our way of life. Nevertheless there are also facts of realities such as age and having a disability, factors that hinder and limit the quality of life. Solutions to these restrictions vary according to the design philosophy and how the design tool is used I think we should respond the needs of all without discriminating and ignoring the weaknesses.
As Donald Norman states:
Also note that invariably when we design something that can be used by those with disabilities, we often make it better for everyone.
If we consider the design elements as pebbles on the beach, the job of the designer is to gather the best of these pebbles, add the artistic touch and create a design that would suit the needs of all the people, not just the disabled or elderly, but everyone in consideration.
This paper tries to examine universal design which is an inclusive term of transgenerational design, accessible design, adaptive design…As an answer to new solution for everyone with special combination and variances.
